Jenny Higgins, DN-DBC, CPDT-KA

Hi, I'm Jenny, the owner and head trainer. I started PUPS Dog Training in 2015 with the help of Melanie Phillpot, Steve Stirrat, and Loly Hauscarriague.

I graduated from the Psychology department at the University of Florida in 2014. There, I worked in the Canine Cognition and Behavior lab for two years studying behavior analysis. Then, I went through a 2-year certification process to become certified as a canine behavior consultant with Dognostics and the PPAB. I also have  the Professional Dog Trainer certification from the Council of Certified Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT).

I'm an AKC CGC Evaluator, and may administer the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy program, CGC, and AKC Community Canine (the new advanced level of CGC) and Urban CGC.

My decision to pursue a career with canine behavior resulted in the rescuing of my Shepherd Mix, Bentley. He was a pup full of anxiety and fear of people. I consistently worked on restoring confidence in Bentley and building our relationship. He is in a much better place now and is enjoying seniorhood. My passion is to see dogs transform into a more confident and happier self.
I also have a Brittany named Rey. Adding a birddog into the mix taught me a lot about a whole different type of dog. She is the opposite of Bentley: too confident, overly social, and much less naturally handler oriented. Getting through her adolescence was quite the process. She is a sweet, still energetic, and wonderful training partner now.
